Profile
Your profile is the personal card CROForge keeps about you. In everyday life a profile is the name, phone number, and preferences on an ID form. In CROForge it is the Settings screen where you update how you appear to teammates, which language and timezone the app uses for you, your password, and two-factor authentication (2FA). Profile belongs to you as a person. It is not the same as workspace settings, which belong to the whole team.
Words used on this page
| Word | Everyday meaning | Meaning in CROForge |
|---|---|---|
| Profile | Your personal details and preferences. | The Settings → Profile screen for the signed-in user: name, phone, country, department, language, timezone, password, and 2FA. |
| Settings | The place you change how something works. | The workspace Settings hub. Profile is one section inside it, alongside General, Users, and activity logs. |
| Name | What people call you. | The display name teammates see in users lists and activity logs. |
| Phone | A number used to reach you. | An optional contact field on your CROForge profile. |
| Country | Where you live or work. | A profile field used for your personal location, not the workspace data region. |
| Department | The team you belong to at work, such as Marketing. | An optional label so Owners and Admins can see which part of the company you represent. |
| Language | The language you prefer to read. | Your personal UI language preference in CROForge. |
| Timezone | Your local clock relative to the world, such as India Standard Time. | Your personal timezone. Keep it accurate so dates and times on your screens match the clock you actually use. Workspace General settings also have a timezone used for reporting context. |
| Password | The secret that proves the account is yours. | Changed from Profile. After you change it, later logins use the new secret. |
| Two-factor authentication (2FA) | A second proof after the password, usually a code from an app on your phone. | Enable, verify, or disable from Profile. When enabled, login shows a 2FA modal and you must enter the code. |
| Enable 2FA | Turning the extra lock on. | The Profile toggle that starts setup. A modal walks you through the app or token flow. |
| Verify (2FA) | Proving the extra lock actually works. | Entering a code in the setup modal so CROForge can confirm your authenticator is paired. |
| Disable 2FA | Turning the extra lock off. | Removing the second check from future logins. Do this only from a trusted session. If you lose access, Owners or Admins may need to help recover the account using your organization’s process. |
| Modal | A window on top of the page for one task. | The 2FA setup and verify dialog on Profile, and the 2FA challenge on login. |
| Session | The time you stay signed in. | Disable 2FA only while you are already signed in on a trusted device. |
| Owner | The person who owns the team’s space. | The highest workspace role. Owners should keep 2FA on because they control users, settings, and billing-adjacent decisions. |
| Admin | Someone trusted to manage the team. | A workspace role that can invite users and manage experiments. Prefer 2FA for Admin accounts. |
| User | A person who uses the product. | Anyone with an account in a workspace. Profile is always “your” user record, not someone else’s. |
| Workspace | A team’s private work area. | Profile is reached from inside a workspace (Settings → Profile), but the fields describe you, not the workspace company details. |

Where to find it
Open Settings → Profile. In the app this is the Profile section of the workspace Settings hub. You are editing the signed-in account, not another teammate’s record. To change someone else’s access, use Settings → Users instead.
What you can manage
Typical profile fields:
- Name, phone, and country — how teammates identify you and how CROForge stores your contact details.
- Department, language, and timezone — your team label and how the product should present text and clocks to you.
- Change password — replace the secret used at login.
- Two-factor authentication (2FA) — enable, verify, or disable the second login proof.
Profile is about you. General settings are about the workspace (company name, industry, data region). Do not confuse the two screens.
How to use two-factor authentication
2FA means “two proofs.” The first proof is your password. The second is a code that only your authenticator app (or the token flow CROForge provides) can create. Even if someone learns the password, they still cannot sign in without that code.
- Open Settings → Profile and toggle Enable 2FA.
- Complete setup and verify in the modal. Follow the app or token flow shown there so CROForge and your authenticator agree on the same secret.
- On the next login, enter the 2FA code when the challenge modal appears.
- Disable 2FA only from a trusted session. If you lose the authenticator and cannot sign in, ask an Owner or Admin to help recover the account using your organization’s process.
Tips
- Keep timezone accurate so activity timestamps and reports line up with the hours you actually work.
- Prefer enabling 2FA for Owner and Admin accounts. Those roles can invite users and change workspace settings.
- Update name and department so activity logs are easy to read during a review.
- Change your password if you suspect it was shared or reused elsewhere.
